It's as simple as that... MDF is not moisture impervious, and just looks terrible within a couple of years of install in your kitchen or bathroom.
Use polyurethane products like we sell and you will never have to worry about the base looking like crap after less than a year!! In fact, it will probably last almost 20 years...

Base in kitchen shows signs of staining and expansion from water exposure near the sink. The old base was removed, and new 4" Polyurethane Flexitions Base Molding # 851 was cut with a standard miter saw. Installed simply with Loctite PL Adhesive. The project took less than 4 hours to complete and cost $70. |
