What is Flexitions? Is it Safe? What is it Made From?

The Foundation of Seamless Design

At Flexitions, we use Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU)—a flexible, durable material commonly found in products like footwear, coatings, and adhesives. It's perfect for our custom stair nosing and transition strip products because it combines both flexibility with strength.

Is TPU Safe?

Yes! In its final, cured form, TPU is safe and non-toxic.

Thermoplastic Polyurethane will not release harmful chemicals or off-gas.
However, during production, raw polyurethane can be hazardous, causing:

- Respiratory irritation (coughing, difficulty breathing)
- Skin irritation (rashes, swelling)
- Eye irritation

How We Keep Our Staff Safe

We’re committed to safety at every step of the manufacturing process:

    • Ventilation: Our facility is equipped with proper airflow systems.
    • Protective Gear: Our team uses PPE while working with raw materials.
    • Curing Time: Each custom stair nosing and transition strip is fully cured before shipping, ensuring it’s completely safe upon delivery

Why TPU Works for Our Products

Thermoplastic Polyurethane is a material you can rely on. Its durability and flexibility make it ideal for high-traffic areas, like stairs and transitions, where strength meets style. That’s why our stair nosing and transition pieces are trusted by professionals across industries.

      The Bottom Line

Once cured, TPU is a reliable, safe material for your custom needs. At Flexitions, we prioritize both product quality and the safety of the people around us, so you can trust us to deliver durable, safe solutions to elevate the details of your space.
